Lismore MEtal Fabrication
Not every job calls for heavy structural steel—but it still needs to be tough, precise and built to fit. That’s where metal fabrication shines. Whether you're working with aluminium for a lightweight trailer build or need stainless components for corrosion resistance, custom metalwork opens up a world of options.
At North Coast Steel Fabrication, we deliver practical, made-to-order fabrication that’s ready for real-world use. Based in Lismore, our team works with tradies, builders, farmers and homeowners to produce gates, guards, brackets, panels and more—cut, folded and welded to match your spec.
If you're looking for dependable, high-quality metal fabrication backed by skilled trades and quick lead times, call

Aluminium fabrication
Aluminium is the quiet achiever of the metal world—lightweight, rust-resistant and surprisingly strong. It’s the ideal choice when you need a durable result without the weight of steel. We fabricate aluminium for trailers, toolboxes, panels, gates, and more, custom cut and welded to match your exact measurements. It’s also a great option for coastal or outdoor settings where steel might corrode.
Every aluminium job is measured for a precise fit and designed with usability in mind—whether you’re hauling gear, securing tools or installing structural features that need to hold up without weighing you down.

What’s the difference between metal fabrication and steel fabrication?
Steel fabrication focuses specifically on steel, while metal fabrication includes a wider range of metals like aluminium and stainless steel. Metal fabrication involves cutting, bending, welding and assembling metal parts into a finished product, and is used across industries like construction, manufacturing, transport and agriculture. The choice of metal depends on strength, weight, corrosion resistance and budget.
How thick can metal be for fabrication work?
Thickness depends on the metal type and purpose. Aluminium and stainless are often fabricated in thicknesses from 1mm up to 10mm, while mild steel can go even thicker depending on the tools and machinery involved. A fabricator can help you choose the right thickness based on strength, weight and what the final piece will be used for.
Do I need to finish or paint metal after fabrication?
It depends on the metal and the environment it’s going into. Stainless steel doesn’t usually need painting, as it’s corrosion-resistant and easy to clean. Aluminium can be left raw, anodised or powder-coated for protection. Mild steel almost always needs a protective finish—galvanising, priming or painting—to prevent rust, especially outdoors or in damp areas.
